Software Frequently Asked Questions

What type of client does OPTIMUS serve?

We primarily support clients in the brokerage, insurance, health care and telecommunications industries, as well as a variety of Government Agencies that have a need for cost effective archival, management and distribution of high volume documents, images or catalogued information.

What is the difference between documents and data?

The term document may be applied to any discrete representation of meaning (in a legal sense), but usually it refers to something physical like one or more printed pages, or to a "virtual" document in electronic (digital) format. Digital documents are also often described as files that contain formatted or unformatted information. Fixed digital documents, like spreadsheets, reports, images, statements, invoices, and bills, as well as their indexing, archival and management are the primary concern of OPTIMUS’ efforts. Data, on the other hand, is information stored in database tables pertaining to information that can be organized in rows and columns.

What is indexing?

Indexing in the context of computer science, is either an integer which identifies a common group element (key), or a data structure (e.g. the full text of a document), so the user can successfully find data or documents or information that is included in a published data set. In this pre-process step, multiple indexing engines may be used to provide the user with the most flexibility in finding exactly the document(s), information or data that satisfy the search criteria.
